Vessels of Elegance
HOBEN SAMPANG | ALFRED GALVEZ | NIKULAS LEBAJO
Throughout ancient history, vessels figured as among the earliest markers of human life. Our ancestors have relied on pottery since time immemorial, turning to them for critical functions such as cooking, storage, and burials.

In the same way, these receptacles have served as barometers of human ingenuity. Earthenware of centuries past would bear intricate motifs incised, stamped, or shaped by the genius of our hand that transcends time, across millennia.

The present collection, Vessels of Elegance, is a testament to our enduring affinity with the fired form. The exhibition traces how it has remained a marker of our creative force-how it has cut across various forms whether sculptural or two-dimensional, plain or elaborate.

Yet in whichever configuration they may come, the works of Alfred Galvez, Nikulas Lebajo, and Hoben Sampang attest to one truth: it is in their simultaneous fragility and tenacity that vessels have bore witness to the persistence of our history and creative genius, from then to now.
